Dating in New York - With So Many People, Why is it So Hard?

A question that even I, a man among men, had to ask myself (though a week later I found myself in a relationship I still hold today). Without a couple million people packed inside of Manhattan alone, you would think that dating was merely a numbers game; it's only a factor of time that keeps you from meeting your significant other. Though it is true that so many people in New York are so close to each other, and it is also true that many of them are looking for some form of dating; however the numbers don't necessarily make things easier on the individual.

The numbers pale into comparison to the general New York City attitude that is inside of us all. After all, who's going to talk to the cute guy flashing you a smile that's walking towards you? The first thing you're going to do is turn around and run to the nearest policeman. So how does a person go about finding a date in New York City? Let's discuss.

Though filled with people, New York City is infamous for having the general "stay out of my way" attitude. Most people think that going to bars and clubs are the way to get around this; probably a bad idea. Most women don't actually go home with the guys they meet at bars, nor do they always call them back for a meeting outside of a liquor induced state. As for clubs, if you're a guy chances are you want to stay away from the women.

As you'll read in an earlier article of mine, most of the girls going to these clubs are underage and just looking for free drinks. Save yourself some cash and just go dance the night away with someone closer to your age. Always remember, if you think the person in front of you is 'too good to be true' then they probably are.

But with all of these happy couples walking around New York City, how is it possible for you to be just like them if traditional routes for dating in New York don't work? Two words: Online Dating. A taboo subject for baby boomers (yes, they're getting old and they hate to admit it) because of the dangers they warned their children concerning meeting people over the internet. Both technology and better business models have allowed the owners of these websites to eliminate the likelihood of meeting these imaginary, sketchy characters and turned online dating into one of the newest, most fashionable ways to spawn social gatherings.
