Do You Want to Build Trust in Your Relationship? Take These Steps

Do you want to build trust in your relationship? Often, what makes a relationship work may not be the things we think of first. Your ability to predict your partner for instance, is more important in the relationship than you trying to spice it up with variety. You are guaranteed to build trust in your relationship if you will follow these steps diligently.

1. Don't keep secrets from your partner. Secrets destroy the level of trust your partner will have in you. If you give your partner reasons to believe that you have something to hide, it will be difficult for your partner to trust whatever you say. Be honest and open. The energy you put in keeping a secret can be used in building the relationship.

2. You need to have a strong belief in the ability of your partner. You can never build trust by making your partner feel that they are incapable of doing anything. Even when your partner have a short coming in any area, you can communicate that to them lovingly and build trust from them.

3. You need to be predictable. You need to be consistent and steady in your relationship with your partner. Your partner will have built a high level of trust in you so much that they can predict what to expect from you and what not to expect from you. Consider that trust in a relationship is built on being reliable day in and day out.

4. Be prepared to let your partner know what your needs are. They are able to meet with your needs easily when they know what they are, than when they do not know. Don't always make them guess what you need.

5. You have to constantly make your actions correspond to what you say. Don't say something and your action conveys something else. If you say you are happy but you are frowning, your action does not correspond to your words. Your partner sees your face and the tone in your voice, and not your words that says you are happy. Your partner needs to be able to trust what you are saying.

6. You have to learn to say no. No is not a bad answer. You don't have to say yes to everything your partner requests from you. Your partner will never respect if you say yes to every of their demands. Refusing to be subjugated to the other person's will actually build trust in a relationship.

7. Growth is a very important part of our life. In relationships, we should be ready to pursue growth. There are times we experience pain in the process of growth. Don't shy away from pain in relationship because it becomes a stepping stone to a stronger relationship. Embrace what is difficult.

When you make up your mind that building trust in your relationship is important to you, and then the pain you encounter in the process will not make you give up. But, as you work through this pain, you will not only become stronger as an individual, you will also strengthen the relationship.
