What to Do About Cocky Blockers

What's a cocky blocker? Well, have you ever started an interesting, stimulating conversation with an attractive new girl you just met at a bar, only to have another guy jump into the middle of things? He either says what he thinks about whatever it is you're talking about (even when no one asked for his opinion), or gives the punchline to the joke you're telling, or - worst of all - tries to take her attention away from you.

That guy is a cocky blocker, and there are a lot of them on the prowl. They're basically parasitic types of men, who try to pick up women without having to break the ice, since you've already done it for them. Yep, they're nothing but low-down, good-for-nothing wussies, but that doesn't stop them from trying. I guess idiots don't know what they don't know.

Dealing with such people has been a major problem for many good men out there. There seems to be no easy way to get rid of them, especially since the first thing to come to mind is to curl your hand into a fist and give him a piece of your mind straight to the jaw.

If you ask me, though, I don't think it matters much what you do about them, since they're eventually bound to be the victims of their own idiocy. Women are annoyed by them almost every bit as much as you are, especially when they were particularly interested in talking to you at that moment.

In this situation, I simply suggest to peel away from her and find something else to do, but not before asking for her e-mail address and phone number. Say something politically correct, like: "Hey, thanks for the time, I had a really nice chat. I'll leave you two for now... oh, wait. Do you have e-mail?"

I'll admit there's a certain satisfaction of watching her write down her contact information for you in front of and in full view of the cocky blocker.

And don't worry. That person may have her attention for a while, but if he's really as dumb as he lets on, she'll peel away from him and find your table soon enough - and the two of you will have a particularly funny conversation about some wuss who can't get his act together.

In the end, I can't stress enough that you should get her e-mail address and phone number before you part ways, with or without the other person's intervention. After all, it's the main reason why you started talking to her in the first place - to open the doors to future dates.
