Whether it is your first date or tenth, flowers are a lovely gesture to give to someone you are dating and with whom you want to make a great impression. Flowers tell the person you care without seeming cliché or sappy as with some other gifts. They are a timeless show of affection and women love to receive them. So, if you have plans with that special someone, take a little extra time to order some fresh-cut flowers for them. 1. Roses. Most women love roses. Their classic beauty makes them a perfect choice for your date. They come in many colors and those colors have meaning traditionally associated with them such as passion (red) or hope (yellow). If you want to say it with flowers, roses are a great mouthpiece.


2. Preference. Many women have flower preferences and while you may not know these if you have not been dating long, you should ask your florist for some suggestions if you are unsure so that you do not make any "rookie" errors.


3. Carnations. While some women love the simple beauty of a carnation, most see them as filler flowers. If they are part of a larger arrangement, you can add them. Bouquets of carnations, however, are not the way to go. No matter how cost effective they are!


4. Occasion. While a dozen roses is a lavish gesture for a first date, you may feel the need to tone things down just a bit if you are headed out for your first date. In this case, choose a single rose arranged with greens. If it is a special event or anniversary, by all means, go for the fabulousness of a dozen roses!


5. Location. If you will be out with your date and they will not be able to put their flowers in water immediately, consider sending a bouquet or arrangement ahead of time with a card saying you are looking forward to your date. You will obviously need your date's address handy so this may not be a first-date pick.
