Would This Guy Make a Good Boyfriend?

A female friend of mine asked me, how can I tell if a guy would make a good boyfriend? The best way is to check out his past. Ask him what his last couple of relationships were like. How long were they? Why did they break up? By doing so, you are uncovering the hidden truth of how a guy will treat you. Will he treat you like an equal or servant? like a punching bag or a princess? So many times we get into relationships with people who are unhealthy, in pain, have issues, or are just plain wrong for us.

A couple warning signs to watch out for:

Does he hate his ex-with as much passion as he loved her? I have known guys, who one day were talking about marrying their girlfriends and after a fight wanted to throw her in jail and file restraining orders against her. Do you really want to be in love with someone will hate you with a turn of a switch?

Does he constantly put down his ex-girlfriend calling her a slut, whore and so on? Does he have to make her small, to try to make himself feel big? Is he so insecure that to feel good about himself he has to put somebody in pain?

How long were his last couple relationships? One night, one week, one month or year or two? If a man is going to go girlfriends like tissue, what makes you think he is going to hang around for with you? He still is playing the field. For him, you may be part of the field instead of the endgame.

How messed up were his last girlfriends? Were they drug addicts? Or have some other addiction or problems? Were they messed up in the head, what kind of issues did they have? This is a guy who is looking to either save someone or needs enough chaos and pain in his life to feel good about his life.

Guys, as a species are pretty simple. All you have to do is to listen to us to hear what we are saying without putting a spin of your hope onto us. And if you still have doubts, a simple test is to ask how many of his ex-girlfriend's is still friends with?
