How to End a Relationship

One of the hardest things to do may be ending a relationship. The longer you've been in that relationship for, the more difficulty you're going to run into when it comes to that awkward time where you feel it must end.

While most relationships don't end, many do, and it's simply a fact of life. People change, circumstances change, and our desires over time evolve as well.

If you know that you're in a relationship that you shouldn't be in, do yourself a favor and end it sooner rather than later. Not only are you wasting your own time, but you're wasting the other person's time too.

Do them the courtesy of giving them as much time as possible to rebound and move on with their lives. No matter what happens at first, things will be tough, but the sooner they have a chance to recover, the better things are.

Don't forget about yourself either. Why deprive yourself of the joys you could experience by either being single and independent, or via a new relationship with someone who happens to be a better fit for you?

Anyway, here's what I would recommend doing if you're looking to end the relationship. Whatever you do, don't do it via text or email, and I wouldn't do it over the phone either. You could do it this way if you've been dating for anything less than a month or two, but I wouldn't do this otherwise.

Meet in person, and do it in a public setting. This will eliminate any potential awkwardness and it'll make the break clean. Doing it in private can lead to something that drags on in a very awkward manner, and you'll have a very hard time asking the person to leave.

This is an uncomfortable thing no matter how you look at it, but it's just one of those deeds that needs to be done. Be brave, and realize that no matter what happens, this too shall pass.
