What Are the Benefits If You Delay Having Sex?

You're in a new relationship; do you delay having sex or not? Are there benefits if you wait? Does it work against your relationship if you don't? What is a girl to do? There are a few good guidelines that can help you reach the decision of whether you should delay having sex with your new boyfriend.

The one main determining factor in your decision is what type of relationship you are looking for. Is it a casual "friends with benefits" type of connection or do you want a deep romantic one? Sex plays a big part in either one.

Obviously, the easy fling will include sex but don't get your hopes up for more than just that. It's based on sex and that is where it will stay; you won't ever get that commitment from the special friends guy. The romantic relationship can actually be enhanced if you keep sex out of it for a while. Why?

If you delay having sex, your new guy will know that you are hoping to reach a deeper, emotional connection with him. He will see that the one night stand is not in your plans and he will move on if that is his intention. Let him go; either the timing or the guy just wasn't right for you.

If, on the other hand, he is also looking for a relationship, waiting for a while will give you the opportunity to form a closer bond with your feelings. Sex can sometimes get in the way of letting this aspect progress because it can add extra pressure on both partners. Longevity in a relationship is won by making that emotional connection. This is what provides a strong, solid foundation that can prosper and grow deeper as time progresses.

So, if you are hoping for a lasting relationship, it is a good idea to delay having sex for a while. You will get closer to your guy first as friends and then as lovers, and all will be much better.
