Help With Doing Your Profile - Stand Out
Your profile is the first thing people will see, so make it count. A unique, catchy title is a good start. Make your profile entertaining, different, and reveal something about yourself and your personality.
Examples, Not Adjectives
Use examples to describe yourself, not adjectives. For example, 'I am a compassionate person' could become 'I give back to the community once a month through my volunteer work'.
Do Not Mention Sex!
This will be off putting or will likely only attract people looking for one thing. There's no reason to mention sex in your profile.
Use Your Culture To Your Advantage
If you have a cultural heritage you might consider throwing in something about that - it will be a point of difference and may be seen as intriguing.
Past Relationship Free Zone
Your profile is not the place to mention your past relationships, it's easy to come off as desperate or bitter so leave it out.
Use Humour
We all like a good sense of humour so be funny if that's your style, but avoid the overt use of sarcasm.
Honesty Counts
Be honest in describing yourself, and turn potential negatives into positives. For example, "my friends say I'm a neat freak but at least you know you won't find anything weird growing in my bathroom".
Choose Your Profile Name Carefully
Be careful using sexy names, or don't be surprised if you attract the sort of person only interested in one thing.
Filter Without Being Negative
Filter out the people that you don't want. Your profile is about getting quality responses but do it by stating what you are looking for instead of focusing on the negative and saying what you don't want.
Complete Your Whole Profile
Filling out your profile in its entirety shows that you are taking online dating seriously. Leaving blank sections or not filling them out fully may be taken as lazy or that you are hiding something.
Your Profile Photo
Get a great profile photo. Make sure it is clear and an honest portrayal of you. Don't pose in front of things or with a bunch of people or your pets. You should be the focus of the shot and should be framed nicely - not a blurred figure off in the distance somewhere.
